Badin High School wrapped up its annual Canned Food Drive, delivering 4,207 cans of food to St. Raphael's Food Pantry.
"This is always a special two weeks because, for the students, it's a chance to accomplish something very substantive," said Teresa Heinrich, Badin's academic dean who helps oversee the effort on behalf of Student Council.
"This year the need seems greater than ever," Heinrich added.

Packaged foods company Pinnacle Foods Group is buying Birds Eye Foods, the nation's largest frozen food company, for $1.3 billion.
As a result of the deal, a planned public offering of Birds Eye Foods stock will be withdrawn.
Birds Eye Foods owns Snyder's of Berlin, the Somerset County potato chip company.

Organizers for the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive are hoping to help many area families and are counting on the generosity of the Longview community, an event organizer said Friday.
"We've approved 1,200 families to receive food boxes, and I expect them to all show up on Tuesday," Betty Horaney said.
"People are really having a hard time this year."
